The company's focus is facilities operation and maintenance, waste management and radiological services, security control and force protection, and environmental services.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Software Engineering Solution Architect's role is to plan, coordinate, architect, and supervise all activities related to the integration of software programs, applications, and third-party solutions as required to meet the business requirements of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain an application integration architecture for the organization.
- Oversee testing of the interoperability of application modules under development by in-house applications development teams, commercial off the shelf software, and with external third parties.
- Lead the development and implementation of software architecture strategies that support the organization's goals and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to software engineering teams, ensuring best practices in software development.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality and performance of software solutions.
- Contribute to the formation and evolution of the HMIS Enterprise Architecture organization.
- Ensure compliance with NIST 800.53, DOE software quality assurance, Hanford Agile SDLC and other relevant regulatory and quality standards.
- Mentor and develop junior architects and engineers within the organization.
- Drive proactive, solution-oriented collaboration across departments, ensuring streamlined communication and effective decision-making to advance strategic initiatives.
- Establish systems, structures, and communication methods that promote accountability for the organizations strategic priorities and major initiatives, fostering alignment and transparency across teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Business Administration, or a related field
- 15 years operational experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Deep fluency in SQL and experience with modern database-driven applications, as well as enterprise data management strategies.
- Experience in modernizing legacy applications to contemporary standards and platforms, including cloud-based solutions.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level software solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence technical teams and stakeholders.
- Expertise in multiple modern programming languages and software development methodologies.
- Experience working within Agile frameworks and contributing to Agile transformation.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and Secure by Design principles.
- A track record of innovation and the ability to drive change within an organization.
- Experience in mentoring and developing technical talent.
- Advanced business acumen with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
- Highly adaptable, resilient, and solutions-focused, with the ability to navigate a fast-paced, evolving business landscape while maintaining a positive and results-driven mindset.
- Demonstrated capacity for leading technical process improvement and organizational development initiatives, spanning multiple departments or functions, from conception to completion.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbal and written to a variety of stakeholders including employees, executive level management, customers, and other contractors, Department of Energy and outside agencies
Special Requirements:
- Must pass pre-employment background check

- Must be able to obtain and maintain at least a DOE L clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with project controls processes and project management software
- Deep experience with .NET, ColdFusion, and SQL
- Experience acting as the technical lead of cross-functional application architecture and tiger teams
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is primarily sedentary in nature. The work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. The work may involve exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
