Job Description :
- Conduct routine, periodic, and emergency eye examinations using specialized diagnostic equipment such as refractometers and ophthalmoscopes.
- Discover defects that can be corrected by prisms, lenses, or other optical accessories.
- Evaluate medical history to determine if corrective treatment or referral to a physician is indicated.
- Prescribe, fit, adjust, and repair glasses for patients.
- Act as a consultant to other professional and paraprofessional staff regarding forms of eye pathology.
- Evaluate medical records to determine appropriate optometric treatment.
- Plan, schedule, and direct comprehensive eye screening programs.
- Instruct patients on proper eye care and care of eyeglasses.
- Write medical and technical reports as needed.
