General Labourer - Mass Hiring

Normerica's story began over 27 years ago, when we proudly shipped our first truckload of clumping cat litter to a major pet specialty retailer. We've continued to grow ever since, with 4 manufacturing facilities in both the United States and Canada.

This position is located at our plant in Dyersburg, TN.

The purpose of the position is to participate in the efficient operation of the production on the shift. Follow the direction of a salaried employee to run production schedules to meet order dates consistent with established policies, regulations, standards of efficiency, employee relations, quality, and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follows job instruction to meet all established standards for labor, material utilization, and product quality.
• Follows and actively promotes safe work, good housekeeping, and hygiene practices within the context of current or future legislation and the Normerica Safety program. Attends all monthly group safety talks and alerts the Company of any safety hazard or housekeeping/hygiene concern.
• Under direction completes first off & facilitates change over. Places operators on line jobs. Sets up date code machine. Keys in the proper recipe for fill station. Troubleshoots all negative variances i.e. fill head over or under, reset palletizer, glue machine, etc.
• Fills in as temporary relief for other employees on line. Fills capping machine, ink in date coder, etc.
• Performs any of the required tasks including palletizing, case making, bagging, lidding, packing, line supply, etc
• Maintain good housekeeping practices.
• Alerts the Company if training and job instruction with respect to expected standards of work performance, quality, hygiene and job safety are insufficient
• Participates in new methods, systems, policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operation of all shift manufacturing activities.
• Participation in the Cost Reduction/Continuous Improvement program.
• Communication of all shift production, safety & hygiene issues to the Company on a daily basis. Follow prescribed quality checks (i.e.: QA checklists, damaged product, etc)
• Attend to duties and projects as assigned by Manager or his/her delegate
• Must be willing to perform physical work which may include heavy lifting

Qualifications:

• Minimum High School Diploma
• Experience in a manufacturing facility is an asset

Technical Requirements:

• Basic Math Skills
• Experience with Machine Operation an asset

Salary: $15.50 per hour
