Position Overview
The Chief Inspector helps develop, implement, and monitor the inspection program for the Part 145 Repair Station Certificate to ensure that the maintenance of aircraft and associated equipment conforms to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturer’s specifications.
The Chief Inspector’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to all the duties outlined in our approved 145 Repair Station manual and company SOPs.
Plans, directs, and executes inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by the repair station and ensures compliance with all FAA regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations on all phases of aircraft inspections. Authorized to change and sign 145 operation specifications.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Know the procedures for the repair station, the use of the forms, tags, and completing the required paperwork as outlined in the Repair Station Manual (RSM) and Quality Control Manual (QCM).
- Maintain calibration records for precision tool/test equipment and ensure that this equipment is calibrated within the specified frequency. This includes precision equipment owned by technicians and inspection personnel.
- Oversee inspection of incoming aircraft, parts, components, and appliances. Ensure proper identification, storage/protection, segregation of serviceable, un-repairable and rejected items, and proper tags/identifications.
- Maintain technical data on all units overhauled or repaired by the station. This includes relevant materials including records of manufacturer’s manuals, service bulletins, FAA manuals, and other data as required.
- Responsible for return to service of aircraft, engines, appliances, and components maintained or inspected by the repair station.
- Final review of paperwork for completeness. Ensure that appropriate entries are made in permanent maintenance records and that only authorized signatures are used for airworthiness release and logbook entries.
- Ensure proper sign offs at the end of each task performed.
- Ensure proper execution of the prescribed FAA forms for major repair or major alteration.
- Ensure that all applicable Airworthiness Directives are complied with and documented.
- At the end of each day all discrepancies, work orders, sign offs, and documentation in the repair station are accurate, current, and up to date.
- Redirect and correct improper maintenance tasks or procedures.
- Maintain current status of pertinent FARs, FAA Advisory Circulars, FAA Type Certificate Data Sheets for Aircraft, and FAA Airworthiness Directives.
- Log entries, FAA Form 337 disposition, weight and balance amendments, and AFM revisions.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned to help NEA attain corporate goals.
- On-call for maintenance control duties.

- Be point of contact for the repair station with the FAA when the Accountable Manager is unavailable or as requested.
- Responsible for maintaining current technical publications for aircraft which the repair station works on. This can be in digital form or in paper copy.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
