The Human Resource Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the HR department by maintaining employee records, processing payroll, assisting with recruitment processes, answering employee inquiries regarding benefits, coordinating onboarding procedures for new hires, and generally supporting day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate employee records, including personal information, employment details, and benefits data in HR system.
- Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, coordinating interview logistics, and participating in the interview process.
- Coordinate interview logistics and participate in the interview process.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires by preparing paperwork, conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring smooth integration into the company.
- Perform payroll functions: review timecards, process biweekly payroll, correct processing errors, and submit to payroll vendor.
- Administer health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Process and track leave of absence requests and worker compensation claims.
- Answer employee questions regarding company policies, payroll, benefits, leave requests, and other HR related matters.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations by maintaining accurate records and following established procedures.
- Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment and employee recognition events.
Skills / Qualifications
- Experience as an HR assistant, staff assistant, or relevant human resource/administrative position.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Basic understanding of HR principles and employment laws.
- Experience using Google applications and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with, or the ability to quickly learn, payroll management and similar computer applications.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
