What are the responsibilities and job description for the Masters Level Internship - Student Health & Counseling position at Northeast Community College?
This position is for a Master's Level Counseling intern, who will perform duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Site Supervisor with Student Health & Counseling at Northeast Community College. This position will receive at least one-hour of weekly individual clinical supervision.
- Provide intake interviews and assessments for students requesting short-term individual and group counseling.
- Assess and assist students to prepare for, minimize, and resolve crisis situations.
- Assist students with identifying and resolving problems affecting their educational and personal development by clarifying short- and long-range educational/personal/occupational goals.
- Provide crisis counseling and assessment for students in distress.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Maintain up-to-date clinical documentation via our electronic recordkeeping system.
- Act as a campus resource and represents Student Health & Counseling to our community.
- Act as a liaison between client and campus or community resources as needed.
- Provide consultation to staff, faculty, and parents seeking assistance with troubled students or those with serious mental health issues.
- Interact with staff and students in a professional and ethical manner.
- Participate in supervision and training with an openness to learning and receiving feedback.
- Create and maintain ethical and professional relationships with all students, clients, supervisor, and colleagues and staff on campus.
- Create and deliver outreach activities/events, workshops, and other prevention services to the campus community.
- Generate ideas for outreach activities targeting different student populations, assist in planning and conducting outreach and education.
