Northeast DuPage Family and Youth Services (NEDFYS) is a not-for-profit social service agency with a mission to provide high-quality, accessible mental health services to residents of DuPage County. NEDFYS primarily serves residents in under-resourced communities through individual counseling services and partnerships with other community agencies and schools to provide mental health services for adolescents. NEDFYS also provides crisis intervention services in conjunction with area police departments.
The Therapist / Program Coordinator will work primarily under the auspices of our Newcomer Empowerment and Wellness (NEW) Program, which includes individual and group mental health services and programs for immigrant youth and families. The Therapist’s caseload may include court-involved youth, at-risk youth in juvenile justice and alternative school settings, and youth, parents / guardians, and families referred to NEDFYS by public elementary, middle- and high schools, and other community partners. The caseload will be primarily Spanish-speaking clients.

Newcomer Empowerment and Wellness Program (NEW)
Deliver specialized programs tailored to the unique needs of immigrant youth, including workshops, therapeutic groups, support groups, and enrichment activities
- Facilitate group sessions for youth, focusing on trauma-informed interventions, cultural identity exploration, coping skills development, and community building
- Coordinate workshops for parents, providing psychoeducation, support, and resources to enhance family communication and resilience
- Provide bicultural counseling services to a caseload of an appropriate and agreed upon number of individual clients referred through the NEW Program
- Develop and implement treatment plans, goals, and behavioral interventions for clients who have experienced trauma
- Oversee and support interns and staff in their roles, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and fostering professional development opportunities
- Collaborate with community partners to ensure accessibility of services and facilitate referrals to individual therapy for participants requiring additional support
- Monitor program outcomes and evaluate effectiveness through pre and post-assessments and ongoing data collection
- Attend agency meetings to provide updates on program progress, discuss collaborative efforts, and coordinate services with other departments
- Assist the Executive Director and Operations Director in compiling information for funding applications and reports and communications with program funders
- Provide counseling and case management services to individuals and families
- Carry an individual clinical caseload and maintain all related documentation according to agency standards and timeframes
- Provide trauma-focused services to at-risk and justice-involved youth
- Support and / or facilitate groups as assigned
- Complete IM-CANS (Illinois Medicaid Comprehensive Assessment of Needs and Strengths) training and certification process
- Complete all required client documentation, case notes and maintain electronic health records in accordance with agency standards
- Provide reports, as needed, to outside sources such as court, schools, law enforcement
- Adhere to agency policy on confidentiality and HIPAA compliance related to both written and verbal information at all times
- Manage schedule, client files, agency data collection, and act as primary contact for all clients on caseload with minimal oversight
- Participate in agency staff trainings
- Attend supervision meetings regularly as agreed upon with the supervisor
- Provide on-call coverage for a minimum 3 days per month; On-Call Crisis Coverage Shifts are 24 hours.
- After receiving Crisis Intervention Training, follow all NEDFYS protocols and procedures regarding crisis intervention.
- Master’s degree and full clinical licensure (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT) strongly preferred; LSW and LPC considered if within three months of full licensure
- 4 years of experience working with high-risk adolescents and families
- Fluency in Spanish required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to partner effectively and work cooperatively with law enforcement personnel for youth crisis intervention
- Flexible, organized, and resourceful
- Significant knowledge of trauma treatment modalities; required
