Organizational Background:
Northeast Health Partners (NHP) is a mission-driven organization dedicated to delivering high-quality, integrated healthcare services to communities across northeastern Colorado. As the Regional Accountable Entity (RAE) for Region 2 under Health First Colorado (Medicaid), NHP oversees the coordination and delivery of physical and behavioral health services for Medicaid members. Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective financial management. This role provides strategic financial guidance to support the organization’s goals.
Must reside in the State of Colorado or be willing to relocate prior to position start date.
Duties Performed:
- Monitor and advise CFO on daily cash balances, pending receipts and payments and ensure sufficient funding for payables and payroll related expenditures.
- Direct finance and accounting operational strategies by analyzing trends and preparing critical measurements.
- Implementing production, productivity, quality, customer-service, safety, security, and health strategies by leading system improvements.
- Protect organization’s assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Monitor and confirm organization’s financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data; conducting audits. Provide information to external auditors.
- Maximize return on cash by minimizing bank balances, evaluating and making investments, limiting risk.
- Achieve organization budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Prepare financial information and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
- Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation. Anticipate future legislation by enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
- Ensure operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential, cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
- Improve financial, accounting, and management job knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to financial, accounting, and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests and helping others accomplish job results.
- Ability to routinely travel throughout Colorado and Region 2.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Education/Credentials/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- CPA or CMA preferred but not required. (This can be optional at this level and the budget we are looking at)
Experience:
- 7 years or more of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 1____ years in a managerial role.
- Healthcare experience preferred
Knowledge of:
- Workplace policies and professionalism
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficient in ERP accounting software, Oracle, NetSuite and Microsoft Office applications especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Organizational sensitivity regarding complex relationships with federal, state and local agencies, government entities, and personnel.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment; however, a hybrid work model may be offered, blending in-office and remote work opportunities based on organizational needs and job requirements. Some meetings will occur at locations outside of the usual work location, including the use of conference and electronic meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, GoToMeeting). All positions require travel within the counties NHP serves.
SALARY RANGE:
Salary Range: $86,0000.00 - $100,000.00. The base compensation represents the entry point of the range. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, education, licensure, and performance.
