Group Home Supervisor

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will supervise the residential training workers who work with individuals living in group homes. Will be responsible for scheduling, monitoring and evaluating work performance of staff who work in the home; ensuring that habilitative and health programs are carried out and that a safe, supportive environment is maintained. In addition, the supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that the home is properly maintained. Will collaborate with service providers, community, clinical staff, and case managers; prepare reports and maintain records that are needed in the administration of the home.; monitor and safeguard the use of the personal money of individuals; prepare the home budget and record all home purchases and account for home expenditures. Monitor home vehicle maintenance; be cognizant of the past and present health status of each individual. Responsible for the supervision of medications and accountable for medication distribution; participate in person-centered planning and assist clinical staff and case managers in identifying and assessing program needs. May assist in training staff to complete all necessary forms for delivery of services, i.e., data collection, progress notes, accident and incident reports; and assist in transportation of individuals. Build supportive team in the home, amongst all staff and ensure staff embrace the practice of gentle teaching.
Rate of pay: $47,278.4-$64,896
FLSA: Exempt/Full Time
Reports To: Residential Services Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Knowledge of developmental disabilities and experience working with people with mental illness and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred. Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders valued.
Other: Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (as determined by the agency). Good communication skills-both verbal and written-are required. Good planning and organizational skills are essential. Must be able to monitor, guide, and supervise Residential Training Workers. Must be able to develop and maintain favorable working relationships with a wide variety of people both within and outside of the agency. Available to work irregular hours. Teamwork, familiar with and embrace and practice the philosophies and tools of gentle teaching.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Embrace and practice the philosophies and tools of gentle teaching.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions, standards of practice including but not limited to confidentiality and recipient rights, and emergency protocol.
3. Demonstrate effective supervision and evaluation of residential training workers that adhere to “person-centered planning”.
4. Maintain good communication with all persons involved in the lives of individuals;.
5. Assure that regulations of CMH, the Department of Community Health, MDHHS, Medicaid, and other pertinent agencies are followed.
6. Maintain records as required.
7. Assure that health, personal care, and training needs of individuals are met and addressed by staff.
8. Maintain records and provide reports as required.
9. Provide pertinent information for program plans and futures planning.
10. Provide guidance and training for staff.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs other related duties as required.
2. May be required to transport individuals and provide own transportation while performing agency-related duties.
3. May be requested to be involved in the board’s continuous quality improvement program.
4. Must travel to offices and other sites in the four-county area.
