SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the clinical support team, the psychologist is responsible for the identification of behavioral and psychological strengths and weaknesses; the development of habilitative plans to increase adaptive skills; and for the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior treatment plans. May provide psychiatric emergency services that will include triage, crisis intervention and stabilization, referral for all individuals of NeMCMHA. Will function as a consultant and resource for staff working directly with individuals. Will complete periodic evaluations of cognitive and adaptive skills of individuals and develop habilitative programs which will help to meet behavioral and psychological needs of individuals served. Advise paraprofessionals and professional staff in the
implementation of approved behavioral programs, prepare reports and maintain records and assist in ensuring the behavior programs follow approved guidelines for dealing with challenging and/or maladaptive behaviors. Provides in-service training to staff, individuals, their families, and other agencies as required, Will also be responsible for evaluating individuals for guardianship and providing testimony in the Probate courts. May complete initial intake assessments to determine service eligibility.
Rate of Pay: $58,552 - $80,891.2
FLSA: Exempt/Full Time
Reports To: Access Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree in psychology from a recognized or accredited school. Completion of a clinical internship, practicum, or field work as required for licensure. Limited license (or eligible for a temporary limited license) by the State of Michigan (i.e. LLP).
Experience: Knowledge of mental illness (MI) and intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) is preferred. Knowledge of behavioral programming and of psychometric, diagnostic, and evaluative techniques. Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders valued.
Other: Good communication skills and functional computer literacy are required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Demonstrate effective evaluation of psychological and behavioral needs to assist and support individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or mental illness who are living and working in the community.
2. Write behavior treatment programs and monitor the implementation of programs for assigned caseload of individuals.
3. Consult and work with clinical staff, outside agencies, individuals, and their support staff, maintaining effective communication and favorable relations.
4. A standing member of the Behavior Supports Committee.
5. Evaluate individuals as requested by courts for the purpose of establishing guardianship or alternatives to guardianship and provide testimony at hearings.
6. Participates as an active member of the Children's Diagnostic and Treatment Team.
7. Will participate in the agency's emergency after hours on-call rotation.
8. Demonstrate effective case recording in accordance with Person Centered Planning, and NeMCMHA Case Recording Guidelines.
9. Demonstrates understanding of assessment and diagnosis for persons requesting Mental Health Services in accordance to the latest edition of the DSM and ICD.
10. Demonstrate an ability to provide emergent mental health services. Able to correctly triage consumers who are presenting for services.
11. Demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions, standards of practice including but not limited to confidentiality and recipient rights, and emergency protocol.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs other related duties, as required.
2. May be required travel to offices and other agency sites in the four-county area.
3. Maybe required to provide own transportation while performing agency-related duties.
4. May be requested to be involved in the Board's continuous quality improvement program.

Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, lift up to 25 lbs., with or without assistance, stretch/reach, hear, see hand/finger dexterity and drive.
