JOB TYPE: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with seasonal layoff.
ABOUT US: Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership (NENCAP), INC is a private, nonprofit corporation. NENCAP serves an income-eligible population in a 14-county area of Northeast Nebraska with programs such as Head Start, Early Head Start, WIC/Immunizations, Healthy Families, Weatherization, and Family Services, free tax preparation, car seat programs, Veteran Services, Commodity Supplemental Food Program, and food pantries.
JOB SUMMARY: Teachers are responsible for understanding, planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate environment and activities for preschool age children. Teachers also oversee the educational aspects of the center, including classroom staff and volunteers. Follow the program’s curriculum. Develop weekly lesson plans and send them to the supervisor. Maintain on-going assessments/screenings for each child. Plan and implement individualized activities for each child according to their MDT/IFSP/IEP. Attend and participate in children’s MDT/IEP/IFSP meetings. Teachers must complete required educational home visits and Parent/Teacher conferences. Enter documentation for each child and manage child data and reports through the online computer assessment system. Communicate with parents on a regular basis. Maintain a tracking system of job performance with aides and volunteers and address performance issues. Prepare and conduct introductory and annual performance evaluations for relevant staff. Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: Associate’s,Bachelor’s or advance degree in early childhood education or advance degree and coursework in early childhood education with early childhood teaching experience. The program provides opportunities for staff to advance a degree. Six months to 1-year related experience preferred.
