Construction Superintendent - Pump Station Rehabilitation and Force Main Replacement
The Construction Superintendent will oversee the rehabilitation of pump stations and force main replacement projects. They must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in heavy civil utility, treatment plant, and pump station projects, with strong knowledge in coordinating and managing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades (MEP). Experience in underground utility installation is preferred. A comprehensive understanding of heavy equipment capabilities, labor rules, and regulations is required.
This position works closely with the Project Manager to ensure safe and productive work execution on time and within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage contracts and subcontracts to execute work accurately and efficiently.
- Schedule and implement work activities, working with the Project Manager to develop sequencing and durations for tasks and ensuring timely implementation.
- Develop work plans for major activities with trade labor foremen, ensuring work is carried out according to plan while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Efficiently manage and utilize equipment, understanding both capabilities and limitations, and prepare weekly labor and equipment reports.
- Manage trade labor efficiently, with a working knowledge of union collective bargaining agreements (CBA's).
- Knowledgeable of cost, payment, and production targets, understand approach, crewing, and production rates used at the time of bid, monitor production, and compare with as-bid goals. Adjust operations as needed to improve production and efficiency, track quantities, and assemble monthly estimates in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education – High School or equivalent, Associate or BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Specialized knowledge in treatment plant construction and underground utility installation.
- Ability to comprehend plans and specs, general computer and math skills, strong communication, both verbal and written, with onsite inspectors, engineers, owner's reps, employees of all levels.
- Able to articulate job progress, problems, delays in meeting type settings.
- Ability to delegate work and provide strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, CAD, Microsoft Project or Primavera, Heavy Job, Viewpoint, Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience – 10 years on an active construction jobsite.
