SUMMARY
The Director of Accounting Projects will lead and oversee accounting-related initiatives supporting two growing multi-billion-dollar businesses, Price Chopper/Market 32 and Tops. This role is responsible for managing large-scale accounting projects, optimizing financial processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancing operational efficiency across both businesses. Has deep accounting expertise, project management skills, and a strategic mindset to drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and internal controls, financial reporting, systems implementation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Location can be based in Schenectady or Buffalo, NY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead and manage accounting-related projects, including process improvements, system implementations, and compliance initiatives across both Price Chopper/Market 32 and Tops.
- Develop and execute project roadmaps, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements within the shared services finance function.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to optimize ERP and financial reporting systems.
- Drive standardization of accounting policies, procedures, and controls across both businesses.
Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between all areas of the business to ensure seamless project execution.
- Partner with leadership teams of both grocery chains to align accounting initiatives with broader business strategies.
- Lead change management efforts related to accounting processes, ensuring smooth adoption by stakeholders.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance with corporate regulatory changes.
- Enhance internal controls and risk mitigation strategies across financial operations.
- Work closely with auditors and regulatory bodies to facilitate audits and ensure financial transparency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Expertise in financial systems, ERP platforms, and process automation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Excellent project management skills, with experience in Agile or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- CPA, CMA, or PMP certification.
- Experience in the retail or grocery industry.
- Familiarity with large-scale financial transformation initiatives.
- Proven experience managing accounting projects within a shared services environment.

Pay: $124,848.00 - $208,080.00 per year
