TITLE: Intake Coordinator
DIVISION: Foster Care and Permanency
REPORTS TO: Certification Supervisor
RELATES TO: CW & JJS staff, financial & administrative services, corporate quality assurance, and representatives of outside agencies and funding organizations.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
The Intake Coordinator is responsible for working with DHS’ Central Referral Unit and representatives from Community Umbrella Agencies (CUA) and County Children and Youth Services Referrals to identify resource homes for children and youth in need of out-of-home placement, as well as responsible for assisting with the certification of prospective Foster and Adoptive Parents. The Intake Coordinator maintains relationships with all NET resource families, understands their individual strengths, makes determinations about “fit” between resource parents and children, coordinates placements, communicates all placements to appropriate parties, manages respite requests, maintains databases related to bed availability, and manages 30/90-day removal notices. Contact with individuals, their families, representatives of private and public welfare agencies, representatives of professional and community groups, and the general public, as well as support and coaching of resource parents are of major significance to the work. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Certification Supervisor
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two years of direct social work experience providing services to children and families.
- Education Requirement: completion of a bachelor's or associate degree program in social work, psychology, or related field from an accredited college or university; or a high school diploma with 10 years’ experience working in Child Welfare in Philadelphia County.
- Knowledge of child and family service systems, particularly child welfare, prior experience in child welfare preferred
- Experience in recruitment efforts and data collection
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Office) and ability to work with variety of database systems.
