Job Summary
The Collections Specialist plays a vital role in working with debtors to collect on past due accounts. In this role you will establish contact with debtors to discuss delinquent accounts and work with them to find the best repayment solution for their circumstances.
Responsibilities
Collections Specialist may do some or all the following:
- Handle inbound and outbound calls for past-due accounts
- Keeping track of all accounts assigned to your workflow
- Negotiate outstanding debts to find the optimal repayment solution for a debtor’s past due account
- Handle account-related questions and or complaints
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws governing the debt collection industry, including the FDCPA and Regulation F
Education and Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Professionalism and the ability to build rapport with consumers
- Ability to work as a team and cooperate with staff members
- Must have proficiency with various software applications programs including email messaging, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and strong keyboard typing skills
- Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
- Previous experience in the collection industry helpful
- Successfully pass a background check
Skills Required
To be successful, as a Collections Specialist must possess strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as demonstrated proficiency with computers including typing skills, along with customary office software such as Gmail, Microsoft Word and Excel. Duties require excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
