Description Of Position
The Department of Health and Kinesiology at Northeastern State University is seeking a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Health and Kinesiology. While the position will be based on the Tahlequah campus,
teaching may be extended to other NSU campuses as needed.
Responsibilities
- Twelve hours teaching load of undergraduate and graduate courses within the Department of Health and Kinesiology.
- Participate in college and department recruitment and retention efforts.
- Advise students within the department.
- Maintain scheduled office hours.
- Engage in scholarly activities internally or externally.
- Collaborate effectively with department and college members.
- Provide service to the department, the College, and the University.
- A terminal degree (Ph.D. or EdD) is required in Kinesiology, Human Performance, Movement Science or a related field is required. Applicants who are in the process of completing their terminal degree and/or who are ABD will be considered. (Terminal degree required for tenure track position).
- Ability to teach a variety of classes related to exercise/rehabilitation science.
- Have a professional certification (ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent)
- Demonstrate potential for obtaining extramural funding.
- Have a scholarship and/or experience working with individuals in a sport performance or rehabilitation setting.
- Evidence of effective teaching and scholarly work in exercise/rehabilitation science.
- Capacity to teach across program levels (bachelor’s and master’s)
- Ability to teach via instructional delivery methods including face-to-face, service-learning, and online.
