Assistant Professor - English
The Department of Languages and Literature at Northeastern State University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Poetry Writing. Northeastern State University is a teaching intensive institution. While the position's primary focus will be in the classroom, experience with service and / or a strong publication record are preferred. Northeastern State University is a 4-year public university with a main campus in Tahlequah, OK, capital of Cherokee Nation, and an additional campus in Broken Arrow, just outside of Tulsa. The university serves a wide demographic, including first- generation college students, rural students, veterans, and one of the highest percentages of Native students in the country.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include a 4 / 4 teaching load of undergraduate creative writing courses, with additional general
education, literature, and graduate-level courses included; directing Creative Writing
major and minor Portfolio projects and other advising; and growing a young program
dedicated to a vibrant, diverse student populace.
EXPERIENCE
Experience with literary programming, additional writing genres, and / or literary journal production is desirable.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have an MFA or PhD in English with a concentration in Creative Writing (Poetry) and demonstrable experience in teaching and mentorship.
Annual salary $53,860.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time
