JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the administration of university databases.
MAJOR DUTIES
Thorough knowledge of SQL and Linux
Develop, administer, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of database systems
Guide functional users in the development of database requirements and criteria
Design and develop interfaces and database views for reporting and application processing
Extend the functionality of applications by combining system configuration and custom program development; implement data models, database designs, data access, and table maintenance codes
Follow-up with clients to facilitate quality control and ensure customer satisfaction
Assists in the testing and improvement of new technology initiatives
Modify database programs to increase processing performance
Maintain and audit institutional data standards
Communicate with technical, application, and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
Establish the data administration function, including designing data models, data definitions, and policies governing administrative data systems
Identify common data and associated relationships, resolves data definition and ownership issues, and ensures data integrity
Coordinate processes to develop data standards policy to improve data accuracy, integration, access and integrity
The position also supports and must greatly contribute to a collaborative customer service team environment, proactively sharing information across the team, establishing documentation, workshops with team members and enhancing an interactive team setting with consistent knowledge sharing

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of varied duties in the administration of university databases. The need to coordinate activities across university departments and sections contributes to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to administer university databases. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of a wide variety of university functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed in an office, sitting at a desk or table.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
At least one year of enterprise database or system administration experience.
Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases.
Ability to maintain regular attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
In-depth understanding of relational databases, Oracle and SQL Server, application development tools, and experience in the programming field.
Strong knowledge and skill in Linux and Apache Tomcat systems
Working knowledge of and experience with the design, installation, and technical support of Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL databases in an enterprise-level environment.
Two years of experience supporting ERP systems in a large Higher Education environment.
Experience with Ellucian Banner, Operational Data Storage (ODS), and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
Ability to monitor database performance metrics such as table space usage, query performance, locking contention, and other performance indicators. Capable to re-organize and tune databases as situations warrant.
Professional certifications such as ITIL v3 Foundations or Oracle.
Annual salary $50,976.00 with excellent benefits including generous leave time
