About the Opportunity
The Network Science Institute (NetSI) is an interdisciplinary research community offering a unique doctoral program and a range of training and research activities for graduate students. NetSI seeks a Senior Program Manager to oversee the Institute’s PhD program administration and student research programs on the Boston campus. The Senior Program Manager is a key partner for faculty and College graduate program leadership, and is responsible for providing support with curriculum development, academic scheduling, and implementation of programmatic processes. The Senior Program Manager will also contribute to the planning and development of the program as it expands across Northeastern’s global campuses.
Specifically, the Senior Program Manager will coordinate curricula requirements, ensure policy compliance, manage program budgets, implement program development, maintain student records, prepare annual reports, and advise NetSI students. The Senior Program Manager will develop processes for connecting students with NU resources and tools, coordinate student exchanges across campuses, and establish standard protocols that will serve to train program administrators as the program expands.
The Senior Program Manager will play a critical role in the successful recruitment of students in NetSI activities and provide support throughout their academic lifecycle. They will also coordinate the hiring of students and support hiring efforts for part-time faculty. The Senior Program Manager will work closely with Institute and College leadership to develop and organize outreach efforts, professional development opportunities, and other student-focused activities. In partnership with Institute and College leadership, the Senior Program Manager will contribute to how the academic mission of the Institute serves and supports the students.

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in higher education or related field strongly preferred. Candidate should have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in an academic or nonprofit educational environment. Candidate must demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and time management skills. Successful candidates will also demonstrate an ability to assist and work with faculty, students, staff, and other guests in an academic or similar environment. Proven success working both independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced and diverse environment is essential.

Responsibilities
Administrative Management of NetSI Graduate Programs
- Responsible for managing, administering, and directing program resources (program consists of 8-12 faculty and 30-40 graduate students).
- Coordinate course offerings and scheduling of qualifying examinations, dissertation proposals, and defenses.
- Implement and ensure compliance of policies and procedures that support student performance and development.
- Provide support for students across campuses, including access to NU resources and tools, academic advising, and visits to and from Boston campus. Establish international partnerships to foster scholarly opportunities for students.
- Provide advising and administrative support for NetSI students; ensure successful matriculation, enrollment, and progress toward degree completion.
- Liase with campus partners to support students' success and wellbeing; work with students and NetSI staff to organize student activities such as orientation, research workshops, town hall meetings, and community building events, as well as support professional development opportunities and other student-focused activities.
- Manage program admissions process and outreach efforts; serve as the point of contact for prospective students; coordinate admissions review of eligible candidates; manage and host open house and process acceptances.
- Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of program development and growth strategies. Develop standard procedures and documentation to reflect scalable and sustainable programmatic operations across campuses, particularly related to advising, co-supervision, funding, and lab/campus exchanges.
- Using university systems (Cognos, Banner, Salesforce, DARS, TRACE, etc.), work with NetSI leadership to provide analysis useful to the management, planning, and future growth of NetSI academic programs, including annual program report. Prepare summary statistics, slides and other materials as needed.
- Collect and analyze program data: this includes maintaining local student records, tracking student achievements, preparing reports on program statistics and activities, managing student evaluations, and documenting all key program information in student handbook, graduate catalogue, and program website.
- Track funding for student stipends (RA and TA); monitor PhD graduate fellowship maintained by the program and Institute; work with administrators across multiple colleges to ensure departmental and grant funds are accurate and appropriately allocated. Prepare monthly student payroll reports to inform budget projections for research supervisors; process payroll changes, when needed.
- Manage $60K budget for program operational funds; create budget and monitor expenses; manage and distribute internal travel award funds and departmental student development funds.
- Support efforts to manage resource distribution as the program grows.Coordinate hiring for part-time student workers, summer interns, and student visitors, including all necessary visa paperwork, as needed. Work with College HR team to finalize Part-Time Lecturer hires.
