Job Description
The Complaint Resolution Officer (CRO) helps prevent and eliminate incidents of unlawful discrimination, including sexual harassment and other forms of sexual misconduct such as sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and related retaliation. This role addresses matters relating to faculty, staff, students, university affiliates, and campus visitors. The CRO develops, implements, and monitors university Title IX / other civil rights compliance to promote nondiscriminatory practices, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local law and governmental agency regulations.
The CRO educates the campus community about the university's policies relating to 1) nondiscrimination and anti-harassment and 2) sexual misconduct and sex / gender-based harassment and advises these constituents about the procedures to file a complaint and about the grievance and adjudication processes. The Complaint Resolution Officer addresses allegations of potential policy violations and tailors specific resolutions to the unique facts and circumstances of an incident.
The CRO independently uses expertise to conduct thorough, impartial formal investigations of allegations covered by federal civil rights and related laws, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, and other forms of sex / gender-based discrimination or misconduct. The position independently gathers relevant facts and evidence related to reported incidents / complaints and applies law and policy to the facts to prepare written reports and / or recommended resolutions. The CRO applies broad knowledge of concepts and procedures to perform complex tasks, identifies problems and solutions independently, identifies and resolves missing information, and improves existing processes.
The CRO independently assesses needs of reporting or other parties to refer to appropriate support services and / or notify university officials of possible health or safety matters.
The CRO independently facilitates Informal Resolution of sexual misconduct and other civil-rights based issues using ethical and best practices in the field. The position serves as a point of contact for those seeking information about sexual misconduct or wanting to report sex / gender-based discrimination or misconduct.
The CRO habitually works collaboratively with numerous on and off-campus resources, including, but not limited to, Victim Witness Services, Office of the Dean of Students, Housing and Residential Life, NAU Police Department, Student Assistance Office, Office of General Counsel, Office of Inclusion (IMQ), NAU Counseling Services, Disability Resources, Human Resources, University Ombuds Office, Office of the Provost, Flagstaff Police Department, and Health Promotion.

Background Information
This position has been identified as a safety / security sensitive position. Salary
Salary range begins at $80,000. Annual salarycommensurate with candidate's qualifications and relatedexperience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus.Service Professionals are hired on a contract basis, renewable each 6 months according to terms of the Conditions of Professional Service .Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following election.
