Northern Arizona University’s Athletics department is seeking one (1) highly organized and experienced Director of Ticket Operations to support Athletics’ ticket operations in all day-to-day processes to ensure proper documentation and record keeping for ticketed events. The Director of Ticket Sales and Service assists in event maintenance and accurate reporting while providing a high level of customer service. They help on-site ticket sales and ticket scanning for event attendees and provides clerical support for event settlement.
Departmental Ticket Operations and Procedures - 50%
- Manages all facets of the daily operations and/or event operations of the Athletic Department, ensuring compliance with the University, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
- Manage the process of inbound event ticket sales revenue for athletic events, including event pre-sales, day-of sales, and back-end reconciliation reporting.
- Maintain the process of filing and record keeping systems to ensure financial compliance.
- Prepares and maintains unit budget and updated employment procedures.
- Oversight of the Graduate Assistant, Ticket Operations position, including responsibilities of hiring, training, management, and evaluation, in addition to unit internship program composed of 5-10 workers.
- Prepare season ticket renewals and mailings, including invoicing.
- Execute in accordance with NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and institutional rules the distribution of player/guest, recruiting and student-athlete admissions for all sports.
- Oversee the process of ticket donation and special event payments.
- In conjunction with the Athletic Business Office, compile reports and administer accounting and auditing controls for ticket operations.
- Execute priority seating and parking for athletic donors.
- Ensure compliance with all NCAA, Big Sky, and departmental rules.
Event Ticketing Operations - 25%
- Updates university event ticketing data and web presence to ensure access to accurate and timely information.
- Oversee game management functions for ticket operations and coordinate with departmental administrators to ensure adequate staffing for NAU athletic events; coordinate special event ticketing process.
Revenue Generation and Customer Service - 20%
- Provide superior customer service and be a positive representative of NAU and NAU Athletics, including assistance with stewardship and retention of all current season ticket customers.
- Coordinate ticket sales campaigns with the External Relations team to ensure maximum ticket revenue and donor contributions.
- Working in tandem alongside Learfield Amplify outbound sales staff, actively prospect and cultivate ticket sales opportunities, including contact with area businesses and in-person appointments to sell season tickets, partial plans, group tickets.
- Alongside Fan Engagement team, help manage the department’s outbound email marketing efforts, including managing audience lists, creation of copy and content, and oversight of email calendar in conjunction with sales timelines and efforts.
- Serve as liaison with combined university box office.

Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver’s license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. Salary range begins at $44,422. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following election.
