What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Supervisor position at Northern Engraving?
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for direction, development, and implementation of safety programs and safety training programs directed towards maintaining safe and healthy working conditions and reducing or eliminating industrial accidents and hazards. Responsible for identifying and controlling hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to injury.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedules and carries out periodic safety inspections and audits at all plant locations for the purpose of identifying existing or potential environmental and occupational hazards.
- Recommends preventive measures and promotes a proactive approach to safety to assure compliance with Company policy and government regulations.
- Communicates, investigates accidents, coordinates the processing of Worker's Compensation claims to include claim progress, final settlement and required reporting. Interacts with Worker's Compensation administrator and Company legal counsel.
- Coordinates and conducts plant safety training and prevention programs and educational guidance related to safety and workers compensation.
- Ensure adequate safety inspections are being completed through the organization.
- Generates reporting for all plant locations regarding incidence, severity and lost hours of industrial accidents.
- Prepares comparative data regarding Corporation safety experience.
- Represents the Company in community or industrial safety groups and programs.
- Evaluates and selects for approval safety equipment and devices
- Other duties and projects as assigned
- Three (3) to Five (5) Years Safety Experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous Supervision experience a plus.
- Associates Degree, or Bachelor's Degree (in health & safety)
- Knowledge of industrial safety, government regulations and accident prevention.
- Ability to systematically analyze hazards and recommend corrective actions where indicated.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Power Point, Excel, & Word
- Effective oral and written communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
