POSITION: Full-Time Dental Assisting Faculty (Assistant Professor): Dental Assisting; Division of Health Professions; Tenure Track; Lawrence Campus (45 Franklin Street); 37.5 hours per week; MCCC/MTA Unit Faculty Position
SUMMARY: Teach classroom and laboratory courses in Dental Assisting; supervise students who are participating in clinical internships at local dental practices. Teach classroom courses in health-related discipline as assigned. Participate in curriculum development, implementation, assessment and revision using defined program outcomes. Maintain office hours and advise students. Participate in college service activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach classroom lecture and lab for the day Dental Radiology (DAS111) course for fall 2025
- Course schedule for fall 2025 is set for Tuesday, from 9:00am to 12:00pm and on Tuesday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on the Lawrence campus.
- Responsible for clinical coordinator tasks in the fall in preparation for the spring practicum.
- Responsible for tutoring and overseeing the open lab in the fall of 2025.
- Teach classroom lecture and lab for the day Dental Radiology II (DAS212) course, Dental Practice Management (DAS122) course and co-teach Dental Practicum (DAS290) for spring 2026
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree or higher is required, preferably in Dental Hygiene Science.
- Holds current certifications as a Dental Assistant from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and is certified in Basic Life Support.
- A minimum of two (2) years of work experience in Dental Assisting.
- Previous teaching experience in a Dental Assisting Program at a Community College.
- Holds a current Massachusetts license as a Certified Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist.
- Demonstrates current competency in professional discipline through continuing education, professional development, or scholarly activities.
- Current knowledge of Dental Assisting techniques.
- The ability to teach within and contribute positively to a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population with varying degrees of experience and knowledge.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience teaching in a community college setting
- Previous experience teaching in a university setting
- Previous experience teaching on-line courses
- Ability to work collegially as a leader and as a team member.
- Bicultural/Bilingual (Spanish and English)
- Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $54,201.00 to $64,497.00 (Rank of Assistant Professor with a bachelor's degree) per academic year with complete fringe benefit package.
