The Opportunity
The Northern Illinois Food Bank seeks an extraordinarily motivated candidate to join our team as a Healthy Communities Specialist, and support the operations of the Healthy Communities Program through addressing the needs of neighbors in the communities we serve through initiatives such as Screen and Intervene and S.E.E.D. The Specialist will facilitate the daily implementation and monitoring of Build Healthy Communities (BHC) Programs.
This part-time position is based out of our West Suburban Center (Geneva), working between 30 – 39 hours Monday through Friday during core-work hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage and update both electronic and hardcopy records, files, databases, etc. that pertain to all
- Organize the data gathered from online reporting from program sites and create reports based on the data collected.
- Maintain and update reports for the Food Bank including reporting to Feeding America, compliance, and KPI’s as needed.
- Provide the Program Manager and internal stakeholders with regular updates on programmatic concerns.
- Create internal and external communications, including monthly reports, newsletters, and emails, to program partners, donors, and other key stakeholders through proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Zoom.
- Create necessary materials, including agendas, presentations, flyers, and more, for program partner meetings and training.
- Schedule meetings for all Healthy Communities Programs team initiatives.
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Healthy Communities Programs team to represent and provide notes, as needed.
- Monitor and maintain the Health Communities email.
- Collaborate with Wellness Food Connection on bi-monthly ordering.
- Review and adjust all mobile builds for BHC programs.
- Provide remote and on-site support to same-day food distribution. Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and data management.
- Capacity to learn internal technology quickly and efficiently.
- Organized and efficient with administrative tasks.
- Ability to problem solve and make timely decisions.
- Ability to work independently but also collaborate well with internal teams, and external programs. partners and other key stakeholders.
- Strong customer relation skills.
