Job Description
This position ensures that initial eligibility for admission to Treatment is assessed based on the person's strengths, abilities, needs and preferences, and to determine whether Northern Illinois Recovery can provide appropriate services for the individual. This position should ensure that those found ineligible for treatment are referred to other resources. This position will contact insurance companies to run the initial Insurance Verifications and/or make financial arrangements with prospective clients.

Responsibilities:

- Coordinate efforts, primarily from inbound phone calls, to bring clients into treatment.
- Screening potential clients for appropriateness for our program based on clinical, medical and financial criteria.
- Call down inactive leads and following up periodically.
- Work effectively with members of the business development team on leads they may present to admissions for treatment.
- Learn, and continue to learn, effective clinical modalities and accurately reflect them on the phone to portray our program in an accurate and positive manner.
- Ability and skill to build trust and rapport with potential clients as well as their loved ones and family members.
- Possessing or obtaining a working knowledge of substance abuse and common co-occurring disorders (bipolar, general anxiety, trauma) and their combined effects, or possible combined effects, on the mind and body.
- Understanding of basic sales techniques and being able to assimilate to the caller and understand their needs and struggles.
- Running and obtaining insurance benefits and accurately being able to “read verifications” to ascertain and relay financial obligations to the client or financially responsible party.
- Learning and effectively utilizing Alleva (Electronic Medical Records system (EMR).
- Ability to answer calls on nights and weekends, as needed.
- Working quickly and possessing the ability to differentiate from pressing priorities and general priorities.
- Sitting in person with clients to complete the admission/intake process.
- Working closely with other departments and sharing pertinent data.
- Understanding and being able to re-direct “non-appropriate potential clients”, swiftly, to business development or accurately give alternate resources.
- Leading and/or coordinating in-person tours with potential clients and their families.
- Willingness to drive/pickup clients, in emergency situations (rare).
- Ability to think and react quickly to not only potential clients, but other incoming calls to assess importance and direct to the correct staff.

Qualifications:

- College degree preferred
- Prior sales experience strongly preferred
- Healthcare or social services experience preferred
- CADC or other clinical background preferred
- Previous experience in substance abuse preferred
- General working knowledge of PHI and HIPAA.
- Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization and support and uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of Northern Illinois Recovery Center.
