Job Summary
The Nutrition Aide assists in the kitchen area prior to, during and after meals are served. Assists in maintaining kitchen work areas, keeping equipment, utensils and food plates clean and orderly.

The Nutrition Aide assists in the kitchen area prior to, during and after meals are served. Assists in maintaining kitchen work areas, keeping equipment, utensils and food plates clean and orderly.
Essential Functions
- Maintains the confidentiality of all patients.
- Ensures that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Consults with the Nutrition Assistant on what foods to be prepared for the patients.
- Prepares production sheets, label and date.
- Assist in serving meals and pouring beverages.
- Prepares and serves in between meal nourishment snacks.
- Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies/procedures.
- Cleans worktables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, food storage, etc.
- Empties dumbwaiter and wash daily.
- Sweeps and mops floors as needed.
- Performs dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assures that utensils and other cooking equipment are readily available for meals.
- Carries out garbage and keeps work areas clean, dry and free of equipment, supplies, etc.
- Follows safety regulations and precautions at all times.
- Immediately reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to their supervisor.
- Immediately reports all accidents/incidents to your supervisor.
- Disposes of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
- Reports missing/illegible labels to their supervisor.
- Completes annual education requirements in required time frames.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Previous cooking experience preferred.
- Principles, practices, procedures and methods related to food safety (i.e. sanitation, storage, handling and temperature monitoring) and serving food in large quantities.
- Familiarity with basic computer skills strongly preferred.
- Skilled in proper operation of food production equipment (e.g., ovens, steamers).
- Effective verbal communication skills required in interactions with patients and healthcare facility personnel.
- Basic math and writing skills.
