Work Schedule
Position requires weekly evening and occasional weekend hours. Monday-Friday : 8 : 30am-5pm, with at least two evenings per week until 7 : 30pm. Must be able to travel to all NOVA campuses (this is not a remote position).

General Description :
The Academic Advisor will provide guidance to NOVA students about academic, transfer, career / workforce, and student development issues, needs, or experiences.
Duties and Tasks :
- Provide academic planning and advising guidance to current, returning, and prospective NOVA students in-person, via phone, virtual face-to-face meeting, chat, and email.
- Manage a caseload of students to support the achievement of the students' goals including, but not limited to, ensuring proper program placement, successful enrollment, course completion, retention, graduation, transfer and / or job placement.
- Conduct assessments of students' needs to make referrals to supports and services.
- Facilitate programs and workshops to support academic planning and advising.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
