POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision from the Chief Executive Officer, the Compliance
Officer is responsible for the overall Compliance Program for the Agency. This position works closely with
all Leadership and Staff to educate and monitor the healthcare Compliance Program to support the Agencys mission.

perform a variety of duties listed, including but not limited to:
- Oversee and monitor all activities related to the development, implementation, and enforcement of the compliance program, policies and procedures per healthcare regulations and standards, including but not limited to ethics, privacy, and information security; ensures Public Records Request complies with appropriate disclosure laws and regulations.
- Establish methods and directs compliance program activities, such as periodic internal and external audits to investigate and monitor compliance while improving efficiency and quality of patient care services, and to reduce vulnerability to fraud and abuse;
- Provide leadership to the Compliance department and ensure staff performance standards are met per NVIH policy, including but not limited to team engagement and performance management.
- Periodically revise the compliance program and related policies and procedures in light of changes in the needs of the agency or changes in regulations and in the standards and procedures of Government and private payor health plans;
- Develop, coordinate and participate in training programs that focus on the components of the compliance programs, and seek to ensure that training materials are appropriate; organize yearly compliance training for the board.
- Ensure that the HHS-OIGs List of Excluded Individuals and Entities, and the General Services Administrations (GSAs) List of Parties Debarred from Federal Programs have been checked with respect to all employees, medical staff and independent contractors and vendors.
- Investigate any report or allegation concerning possible unethical or improper business practices, and monitor subsequent corrective action and/or compliance.
- Provides timely and accurate audit findings, reports and information to the Compliance Committee, Executive Management team about compliance issues and corrective actions; provide consultation to the management for any state and federal compliance issues;
- Promotes a comprehensive approach to establish a culture of accountability and compliance throughout the organization; collaborate with other function groups to develop controls and metrics that foster a culture of compliance and accountability;
- Advises and guide department managers in interpreting and enforcing medical center policies, rules, regulations, and procedures related to regulatory, privacy, and security compliance; assist in determining appropriate disciplinary or corrective action in response to a compliance issue;
- Keeps abreast of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations; ensure that the organization and all policies are updated with changes in Compliance and Privacy regulations and standards;
- Provide recommendations to patient care departments regarding enhancement of compliance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for an employee to successfully perform their
duties.
- Bachelors Degree required, in healthcare administration, law, business or a related field.
- Three (3) years experience in healthcare compliance related role.
- Healthcare Compliance (CHC) Certification
- Leadership skills with the ability to motive, inspire, coach, counsel and ensure team effectiveness; previous supervisory experience desired
- Knowledge of healthcare clinical operations, billing & coding, audits and other compliance realms.
- Ability to understand and apply compliance regulations from HHS-OIG, HIPAA and other regulatory bodies in the healthcare industry.
- Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling high stress situations.
- Able to work collaboratively with multiple levels of professionals (CEO to Receptionists) in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline, requiring excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating staff.
- Excellent written, oral communication skills, including the ability to engage in public speaking.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills with acute attention to detail.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
