What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Assistant (CNA or NAR) - Birth Center position at Northfield Hospital & Clinics?
- Provides Patient Centered Care
- Makes observations/collects health status information in a timely manner per policies and procedures as delegated by the RN.
- Reports observations to RN. Immediately reports concerns, changes in patient/resident’s condition that are outside normal parameters. To include: hydration, elimination, nutrition, mobility, mood, skin changes, pain, vital signs and any problems the patient is having.
- Performs personal care and interventions for patient needs as per policies and procedures and unit schedules. To include: baths, showers, backrubs, shampoos, shaves and foot care.
- Assists with patient admissions, discharges and transfers.
- Provides and documents daily activities and care provided to patients/residents accurately and in a timely manner. To include: assists with meals and feeding, ambulates, turns and positions patients, provides fresh water and between meal nourishments.
- Communicates effectively in a caring manner with compassion.
- Responds appropriately and in a timely manner to unit and patient calls and alarms.
- Provides for the comfort needs of patients and timed position changes to prevent pressure injuries.
- Performs weights and accurately records I & O, collects excretory specimens and obtains routine bedside blood glucose.
- Contributes to a Safe Environment for Patients, Visitors and Staff.
- Provides and maintains a clean, safe patient care environment, stocking patient care supplies, cleaning patient reusable equipment, carts, and surfaces.
- Uses equipment and supplies safely and properly.
- Protects patients and self from infectious and communicable disease through proper use of universal precautions.
- Protects patients and themselves from injury during transfers, lifts, repositioning and transport.

- Maintains clinical competence.
- Works collaboratively with team to create a cohesive environment.
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Registered in good standing with the Minnesota Department of Health Nursing Assistant Registry (NAR)
- Current BLS must be enrolled in NH C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
- Initial Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months.
- Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.

- 7:00pm-7:30am
- Every weekend and every third (3rd) holiday
- Competitive Wages, $17.66-24.93 (experience and education may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended)
- Shift Differential Pay: Evenings $.80; Nights $1.20
