What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Safety Officer - Casual position at Northfield Hospital & Clinics?

Maintain a highly visible profile through frequent patrols of the Hospital campus property to prevent, detect and address unacceptable behavior.

Maintain security and fire alarm response on hospital campus buildings through active foot patrol by checking, locking, and rechecking all exterior and interior doors and windows.

Respond to, investigate, resolve (if possible) and document reported security incidents/complaints.

Respond to Emergency Response Guide activations/codes and chemical spills.

Assist law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations through exchange of information.

Provide assistance to the hospital campus by responding to calls including building lockdowns, financial deposits, and vehicle assistance, as well as traffic and crowd control.

Respond to calls for service from off-site Northfield Hospital Clinic facilities in Northfield, Farmington, and Lakeville.

Handles pharmaceutical waste in accordance with hospital protocol, including properly disposing of hazardous waste.

H.S. Diploma or equivalent
-
Two-year college degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, security or related field preferred.

One year of experience in law enforcement or security is preferred.

Basic certification from the International Association for Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS), or willingness to obtain it within 6 months.

Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification (or obtained within 6 months of hire, company paid)

Crisis Prevention Institute Foundations Course Certification, or willingness to obtain it within 6 months.

Defensive Tactics certification, or willingness to obtain it within 6 months, company paid.

Valid Driver's License that meets company standards.

Mon-Fri Shifts: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Sat/Sun Shifts: 7:00 AM- 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM- 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Minimum of one shift per month is required to retain casual/call status

One weekend shift per month is preferred
