Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing patient appointments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. This role requires proficiency in various scheduling software and strong communication skills to facilitate seamless interactions between patients and healthcare providers.
Duties
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using Medisoft or similar software.
- Maintain accurate patient records and files, ensuring all information is up-to-date and compliant with HIPAA regulations.
- Handle incoming calls efficiently using phone systems, addressing patient inquiries and providing necessary information.
- Assist in the preparation of care plans by coordinating with healthcare providers and staff.
- Perform 10 key typing for data entry tasks related to patient scheduling and record maintenance.
- Collaborate with receptionists and other administrative staff to streamline office operations.
- Support the overall efficiency of the office by managing files and ensuring all documents are properly organized.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Experience with Medisoft, Office Hours, or similar scheduling software preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical coding practices is highly desirable.
- Strong typing skills, particularly 10 key typing proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous experience as a medical scheduler or in a similar administrative role is an advantage.
