The purpose of a BH Therapist -Recovery Program is to assess, diagnose and treat individuals using individual and group counseling, and make informed, appropriate referrals in order to assist individuals in achieving mutually agreed upon goals, promoting recovery and leading to a more satisfying, emotionally and socially healthy life. Recovery Program providers will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver whole-person care.
Behavioral Health Therapists counsel individuals or groups regarding substance abuse, psychological or emotional problems, or family situations to develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans in clinic settings by performing the following duties.
- Provide assessments, treatment planning, treatment, discharge planning and consultation.
- Interviews clients, reviews records, and confers with other professionals to obtain pertinent information.
- Formulates a program for therapeutic treatment.
- Provide therapeutic treatment in individual and group settings. Discusses progress toward mutually established therapeutic goals with patients to evaluate success of therapy, and adapts treatment as needed.
- Participates in Recovery Program team briefings partnering with a multi-disciplinary team in service delivery including medical teams, care coordinators, peer specialists, community health workers, etc.
- Provides education and support to family members and other supports to promote recovery and facilitates family programs.
- Refers program participants to other support services as needed such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services, and employment services.
- Completes documentation in the Electronic Health Records system professionally and in a timely manner.
- In coordination with program leadership, participate in community education regarding substance use disorders, treatment and prevention.
- Plans and administers therapeutic treatment by telephonic / telehealth methodologies as indicated by patient needs and state guidelines.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelors Degree plus a Master Degree in counseling required.
Required Credentials, Certification, Licensure
LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or In-Training licenses (LPC-IT, LMFT-IT, and APSW) required in Wisconsin.
Specific training / certifications may be required for certain types of therapy / assessment. Employees will not work outside of their scope of education and training.
Preferred Credentials :
Specialization, training OR experience in substance use disorders preferred.
CSAC, SAC, license may be "In Training" for candidates with a Masters degree in counseling.
