Primary Description
The part-time Cafe Worker is responsible for providing excellent customer service while assisting with daily operations at the cafe. This role involves preparing and serving food and beverages, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and ensuring that customers have a positive experience. The Cafe Worker will also assist with inventory, opening/closing operations, and general cafe upkeep, as needed.
Status: Non-Exempt (hourly), Part-Time, 25 hours/week – -OR-

Competencies

- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages according to cafe standards (coffee, tea, snacks, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness of the cafe, including tables, and counters.
- Restock supplies and ingredients as needed.
- Ensure food safety and cleanliness standards are followed at all times.
- Handle cash register transactions, and process payments with POS system.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including preparing the cafe for service and cleaning at the end of the day.
- Address customer inquiries or concerns in a polite and timely manner.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of catering or special events, if applicable.
- Be available to work evening events as needed.
- Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.

Credentials (Educational & Professional Requirements)
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, cafe/kitchen environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- A friendly and approachable attitude with a focus on customer service.
- Attention to detail in food and beverage preparation, cleanliness, and customer interaction.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Food Handler’s Permit or Food Safety Certification is a plus, not required.
