What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Cloud Platform Engineer position at NorthMark Strategies LLC?
We’re seeking someone to build and optimize our cloud platform for scalability, reliability, and efficiency. This role will be the Lead technical owner of the team and foster a world-class engineering culture.
Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor a team of 3-5 cloud and platform engineers.
Develop scalable distributed systems for complex tasks.
Develop and enforce best practices for cloud operations, automation, security, and cost management.
Collaborate with dev teams to ensure seamless integration of applications with cloud services.
Monitor and optimize cloud performance, scalability, and availability.
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues and incidents.
Share knowledge through continual collaboration and pair-programming.
Stay up to date with the latest cloud technologies and trends, and recommend improvements.
Requirements:
6-10 years in Software, Cloud Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering.
Strong understanding of systems engineering and scaling strategies.
Experience as a technical Lead for a team of engineers.
Experience scaling operations (tell us your story!).
Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Fluency in Software Engineering ways of working (Git).
Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Solid understanding of networking, security, and compliance.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Experience with large clusters (100 nodes).
Expert-level knowledge with AWS primitives (VPC, S3, EC2, Route53, IAM, etc.).
Experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and Hybrid).
Proficiency with DevSecOps principles and tools.
Fluency in multiple programming languages (Python, Typescript, Go, etc.).
Strong devotion to the Agile methodologies.
Bonus Points:
Knowledge of High-Performance Computing and Machine Learning tools and workflows.
Experience building developer portals (e.g. Backstage).
Full Stack work (Frontend/Backend, SQL, API development, serverless, JavaScript/TypeScript).
Building on-prem systems.
