Job Summary
NP Service Company is seeking seasonal full-time or part-time Gardener(s) / Horticulturist(s) for our private homeowners’ association in Northport, Michigan. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for horticulture who are self-motivated and able to take direction from the Assistant Property Manager. Responsible for maintaining beautiful garden spaces and executing tasks efficiently, meeting client needs under the guidance of your supervisor.
Principal Duties
- Maintain the aesthetic quality of client gardens by performing various horticultural tasks such as weeding, mulching, and planting
- Ensure garden spaces are properly cared for, including pruning, deadheading, and watering flowers, shrubs, and trees
- Assist with setting up and maintaining equipment for events or office needs.
· Assist with leaf cleanup tasks, including using blowers, rakes, and other tools for efficient debris removal.
- Take responsibility for seasonal plantings and flower beds, ensuring they are maintained to client specifications
- Report on the status of work orders, ensuring all issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
- Operate and maintain garden tools, including back-pack blowers, hand tools, and other equipment
- Stay updated on new technologies and best practices to enhance service quality.
- Use property management software to track requests and work progress.
- Support the Assistant Property Manager in larger-scale projects and initiatives.
- Track and report the use of gardening materials, including ordering plants and supplies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including service logs and records.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Property Manager to ensure garden operations align with overall client and company goals.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization of gardening equipment and materials.
- Work independently and manage time effectively to meet the demands of the role.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while following supervisory direction

- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and all applicable regulations.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of annual and perennial plants used in beds and containers
- Experience in container design and installation
- Prior experience in residential landscaping is preferred
- Valid Driver’s License; must be insurable.
- Background check required.
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment and lift 50 lbs. or more.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
- Ability to work on a variety of surfaces and in different outdoor environments for extended periods
- Use of hand tools, including pruners, shovels, and other gardening tools
- Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for long periods while performing tasks such as weeding and planting
- Physically demanding tasks, such as plant installations, mulching, and hauling debris
- Occasional participation in physical tasks, such as overseeing snow removal or assisting with larger projects, may be required.
- Early morning, weekend, and holiday availability may be required as prearranged.
