JOB SUMMARY
This position works at each of the District’s five high schools to assist students and staff with finding college/career and scholarship opportunities. Travels to each HS on alternating days.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the employee(s) involved. Duties may vary from position-to-position or based on the employee(s) specific assignment and needs of the Director.
- Assists students in finding college, career, and scholarship information. Maintains scholarship materials. Assists students with college and career exploration.
- Supports CTE satellite and WANIC processes. Collaborate with WANIC staff to support 3 credit courses. Work with students and staff to streamline the CTE course selection process for both satellite and WANIC courses.
- Sets up and maintains visitation records for college, military and career representatives. Writes announcements for student and parent bulletins. Creates marketing slides and updates the counseling websites.
- Supports annual senior student recognition including Washington state honors, department awards and other student recognition.
- Supports counselors and students with the High School and Beyond Plan. Manage the process of marking seniors met for the mandatory graduation requirement.
- Greets people entering the Carrer Center and provides assistance. Provides secretarial support for Career & College Readiness Counselors. Creates and prepares materials for class presentations; composes, formats, and edits correspondence and handouts.
- Receives job board information and coordinates student participation. Prepares and posts job board information; verifies and monitors program participation by working cooperatively with employers and students.
- Prepares and monitors Career Center budgets for each school. Sets up and maintains Career Center budgets; researches vendor information to secure sources for purchasing of supplies, software, reference materials, and equipment; prepares and processes purchase orders; inventories deliveries; distributes materials.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Director of Career and College Readiness.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be willing to travel to all schools and work in a variety of school settings. Works in an office environment; frequent interruptions; daily and prolonged exposure to visual display terminal; may be required to sit or stand for prolonged periods; requires dexterity; requires ability to lift or carry up to 30 lbs.; occasionally deals with parents, students and/or staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
High school graduation or equivalent with two or more years of office experience involving computer and record-keeping skills; experience working with adolescents and the public; school district work experience preferred. Training in computer operation, secretarial procedures, data entry and/or customer service may substitute on a month-to-month basis for one year of required office experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to provide effective and efficient customer service and collaborate with district staff, building staff, and public.
- Communicate effectively both in person, email, and phone.
- Detail oriented.
- Effectively use Microsoft Office for professional Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint Presentation, and Google Docs programs.
- Ability to operate office equipment
- Ability to organize and set priorities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to read, write, speak, and compute effectively
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, remain flexible, and work effectively under pressure

SALARY Salary is based upon the current 2024-25 NEOPA Salary Schedule Salary (Level F); placement on the salary schedule will be determined by Human Resources DOE. FLSA Non-Exempt.
WORK YEAR 6.5 hours per day, 4 days per week.
