Position Overview The purpose of this job is to process all hospital services claims that fail billing edits in order to obtain prompt reimbursement. Responsibilities - Analyze, investigate, prioritize, and resolve the daily prioritized work queue error per department policy - Work prioritized system work lists based upon pre-determined sorting criteria - Assess claim errors and determine what is required to correct for submission - Clearly and concisely document account with all actions taken and status per departmental procedures - Maintain professional and positive contacts with other departments within the organization in rder to obtain critical information required for account resolution - Locate/obtain missing information or correct information on accounts in error and are not billable - Process secondary billng for Medicare and Medicaid claims on a daily basis - Remain current with government regulatory requirements for all hospital services (dialysis, inpatient, rehab, psych, DME, etc.) Qualifications - High School diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred - Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare financial setting required - Effective communicator as demonstrated through excellent and professional written and verbal skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office - Ability to build positive relationships with all internal or external customers - Ability to constantly evaluate and prioritize workload - Ability to quickly problem solve and identify appropriate issues for escalation to management - Knowledge of CPT coding practices, preferred - Working knowledge of billing requirements for Medicare, BC, Medicaid, Commercial, required NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) is an integrated healthcare delivery system consistently ranked as a Top 15 Teaching Hospital in the U.S. The NorthShore system, headquartered in Evanston, Ill., includes six award-winning hospitals – Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park, Northwest Community Skokie, and Swedish.
