Northstar Chemical is searching for an enthusiastic and motivated Customer Service Representative to be an integral part of our team. We specialize in distribution of chemicals for industrial and water treatment applications. The Customer Service Representative will enable a positive customer experience through the execution of the order fulfillment process. Key activities include answering phone calls and e-mail, understanding and responding to customer needs, processing orders and assisting with the dispatch routing of deliveries.

Job Responsibilities:
· Respond in an accurate and timely manner to customer requests received by phone or e-mail. Initiate collaboration within the team which includes the Dispatcher, Sales Account Managers, and Operations personnel to achieve customer satisfaction.
· Execute tasks to completion including processing customer orders accurately and providing order confirmation, providing paperwork, order status updates, and customer pricing requests.
· Perform transactions in the computer system such as order entry, purchase orders for product and invoices to customers. Print and arrange shipping documents.
· Set up and maintain customer accounts in the computer system.
· Cover (as a backup to the primary person) for logistics arrangements to enable product delivery including arranged freight with contract carriers and dispatch routing of company drivers.
· Understand and abide by company policies and procedures. Promote and practice safe behavior.
Compensation and Benefits:
· Hourly salary based on experience: $ 23.00 – $ 27.00

Work Schedule and Location:
· Full time position in Modesto, California working day shift between business hours (currently 8:00 am to 5 pm) Monday through Friday.
· Position requires you to be available to work in the office, not remotely.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Customer Service including processing customer orders.
- Computer skills using Outlook,/ Word / Excel. Ability to type at 30 wpm.
- Experience in using an EDI or enterprise computer system (examples: SAP, Oracle, AS-400, Chempax, etc.) to perform transactions (order entry, purchase orders, invoicing, customer account setup/maintenance, etc.)
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional manner. Effective problem solving through collaboration and teamwork.
- Demonstrated accuracy and high attention to detail.
- Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving abilities in a fast-paced high volume distribution environment.
- High School Diploma / GED.
Preferred qualifications but not required:
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
- Work experience in distribution of products, preferably from multiple vendors and warehouse locations.
- Logistics experience including assignment of product transport to contract carriers
- Experience in supply planning, product cost management and inventory control.

- This position requires the ability to occasionally answer phone calls after normal business hours, weekends and holidays as business needs arise. These situations arise when there is a delivery issue or an emergency delivery request by a customer.
