Sourcing Manager

Responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the supplier strategy for all phases of the sourcing of products and services. The role requires driving and developing comprehensive strategic relationships and sourcing strategies through strong technical / industry expertise that significantly contribute to year over year operational improvement while also facilitating sourcing influence across the supply base. Key activities include : 1) Sourcing strategy development that secures competitive pricing, outstanding quality, responsiveness to changing supply requirements, and on-time delivery performance; 2) Supporting current product offerings and new product introductions; 3) Working collaboratively on cost reduction projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and the selection and development of strategic sourcing partners; and 4) Exercising decisive data-driven decision making on a daily basis.

Responsibilities :

Development and management of supply base / commodity strategies to meet key business initiatives for supplier influence, quality, fulfillment, productivity and cost.
Source products and services, assist with supplier audits, negotiate tooling and pricing, write contracts, and perform value analysis to ensure supplier contract and timeline compliance.
Negotiate effective and competitive supply agreements which protect the interests of the company.
Conduct in-depth supplier research to identify and secure strategic sources of supply and rationalization options.
Analyze industry trends, market indices, and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues, protect continuity of supply, and utilize emerging opportunities.
Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize the supplier qualification and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Drive total cost reductions / containment without sacrifice to quality, performance and delivery.
Partner with key business stakeholders in new product development and cost reduction programs; ensuring that supply base trends, knowledge and expertise are utilized to optimize program performance and project costs.
Develop a supplier management program including metrics / scorecards, performance goals, improvement initiatives, and compliance with contract terms and conditions.
Ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained that minimize working capital and costs while ensuring a high level of service.
Facilitate the proactive and timely flow of information, technical and market, between the supply base and all key internal customers

Requirements :

BS / BA in business, engineering, materials management, supply chain management or other related discipline required.

7 years work experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment with a minimum of 5 years experience in strategic sourcing, negotiating, and procurement; some international sourcing experience desired.

Significant experience in manufacturing desired; mechanical engineering and / or machining background strongly desired.

ISM CPSM certification is desired.

Quality Management Systems, ISO, and Lean Six Sigma disciplines, training and experience desired.

Functional understanding of cost accounting and ability to adopt to practical application.

Proficiency in software applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).

Strong ERP experience (Epicor desired), particularly in the areas of PO creation and release.

Collaborative team player with the ability and desire to proactivey interface and communicate across all levels of the organization as well as externaly with suppliers and customers.

Demonstrated negotiation skills with a strong understanding of legal terminology and language related to supplier agreements and contracts.

Ability to read and interpret contracts, engineering drawings, product specifications, industry codes, and ISO regulations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks with a proven attention to detail.

Have credibility and be well networked for influence; able to open doors.

Demonstrated ability to function as a proactive change agent, passionate about sourcing and customer loyalty.

Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and personal organization skills.

Capable of independently analyzing data to make sound decisions on suitability and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.

Self-motivated, self-starter capable of remaining flexible to changing work priorities.
