THE POSITION:
The Team Leaders primary role is to ensure the safety, care, and well-being of residents while supporting the Shelters mission. This role oversees shift activities, ensures policy compliance, and provides supervision and guidance to direct care staff.

This position will work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10:30 pm to 7:30 am.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee staff tasks and ensure services align with resident and Shelter needs
  • Enforce compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Provide training, evaluation, and support for staff professional development
  • Foster communication across shifts and teams for consistent care
  • Address attendance and disciplinary issues promptly, documenting actions per policy
  • Monitor and adjust staffing to meet licensing ratios and resident needs
  • Support program planning and advocate for resources to improve care and sustainability
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment for residents
  • Ensure intake, discharge, database entries, and all other required documentation are completed accurately and timely
  • Coordinate supplies, activities, and transportation to meet resident needs
  • Administer and monitor medications per policy; oversee medical conditions
  • Conduct emergency drills and identify risks to ensure safety compliance
  • Apply child and adolescent development principles in interactions with children
  • Promote hygiene, health, and nutrition practices to support development
  • Support case managers in implementing individualized plans for resident growth
  • Foster a nurturing and respectful atmosphere embracing diversity
  • Prioritize dignity, choice, and self-management in daily resident interactions
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all policies, laws, and ethical standards
  • Build effective relationships with staff, residents, volunteers, and external professionals
  • Attends required meetings, training, and other events as assigned
  • Participate in the Team Lead on-call rotation following the on-call policy and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Twenty-one years of age or older
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Physical stamina and agility required to care for active children and youth
  • Physical ability to use authorized techniques for the management of aggressive behaviors

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with trauma
  • Experience exercising Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and Therapeutic Aggression Control Techniques (TACT)
  • Prior experience in a supervisory position
  • Relevant college courses or college degree (e.g., Education, Social Work, Human Services, etc)

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Basic knowledge of Google and other database programs
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to: computers, telephone systems, calculators, and copiers
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility, reliability, and self-motivation
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, interpersonal skills, and strong communication

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

The demands described are representative of those that must be met by an individual to perform the essential functions of this position successfully.

  • Physical stamina and agility are required to care for children of all ages
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Tasks may involve walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting for long periods, both indoors and outdoors
  • Cleaning as directed
  • Physical exposure to communicable diseases/contagions and head lice
