General Area of Responsibility
Purpose: To lead students in a biblical environment that seeks to glorify God through a Christ-honoring education. Mission: To nurture the heart, mind, and will of each student in the things of God through Bible-centered academics, encouraging them toward a life of fruitful service in the home and church, on the job, and in the community.
Job Qualifications
- Christian Commitment: This position shall model a life of personal commitment to Jesus Christ. He/she will agree to the Schools' Statement of Faith and participate as an active member of a local, Bible-believing church.
- Vision: This position will embrace the concept that God has a unique vision for NWCS. They will understand that this is a God-given vision, is not static but dynamic as the school's leadership teams implement and perpetually assess its progress. As a leader they will communicate the casting of vision by seeing it clearly, showing it creatively and saying it constantly.
- Team Player: This position must demonstrate a flexible mindset when working on responsibilities, duties, and group projects. They shall demonstrate their leadership skills not from the top but as a team player who can serve effectively for another team leader.
- Regular attendance in a local evangelical church.
Job Responsibilities
The Director of the Spring Musical gives vision and direction for the annual spring shows (includes students grades 7-12), including the following:
1. Pre-Production
a. Initial Meeting: Meet with the school administration, theater program director, and other relevant stakeholders to discuss the goals, expectations, and spending allowance for the musical production.
b. Auditions: Be present at auditions to evaluate student actors for potential roles.
c. Casting: Leads the casting of the production, ensuring that roles are assigned fairly and appropriately.
2. Production Planning:
a. Purchasing and Expense Management: Work within spending allowance provided by theater program director for production expenses, including costumes, set design, lighting, sound, and equipment.
b. Schedule: Create a production schedule with key milestones, rehearsals, and performance dates.
3. Rehearsals:
a. Rehearsal Management: Oversee and schedule rehearsals, ensuring that the cast and crew are well-prepared for performances.
b. Directing and Coaching: Provide direction and coaching to the cast and crew to ensure a high-quality performance. Work with individual actors on character development and performance skills.
c. Set Design and Construction: Provide creative and technical support for set design and stage management. Coordinate with production team the construction of sets, props, and backdrops.
4. Technical Production:
a. Lighting and Sound: Plan and coordinate the lighting and sound design for the production, including equipment setup and operation during performances.
b. Costume and Makeup: Oversee the creation and fitting of costumes and makeup for the cast.
5. Performance:
a. Technical Operation: Oversee Lights/Sound crew to ensure smooth technical operations during performances, including lighting and sound cues.
b. Stage Management: Oversee Stage Manager in their management of backstage activities and cues during the show.
6. Post-Production:
a. Evaluation: Conduct a post-production evaluation with the school administration and other stakeholders to assess the success of the musical.
b. Documentation: Provide a final report detailing the production process and recommendations for future productions.
7. Wrap-Up:
a. Thank You and Feedback: Express gratitude to all involved parties and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Critical
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and regularly attends a Bible-believing church that supports NWCS’ Statement of Faith.
- Training or experience as a show Director.
- Team player and demonstrates positive interpersonal communication skills.
- To think Biblically when confronted with challenging circumstances.
- Proven ability to use good judgment and seek assistance when necessary, regarding conflict resolution.
- Ability to nurture the hearts of students by appropriate interaction with parents.
- Ability to mentor students at various skill levels and places in their walk with Christ.
Important
- Articulate speaking ability with all key constituencies.
- Capable of seeing the “big picture” while applying its parts in your specific area.

Benefits and Work Schedule
Schedule: Program will approximately be December 2025-March 2026.
Compensation: $1500-$3000 Stipend**
**Position may be 1099 or W-2 employee based upon terms of employment.
