Accountant II – Generalist
Location: 681 Center St. NE, Salem OR 97301 (this is in office environment position)
Job Status: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week
YOUR ROLE:
As an Accountant II - Generalist at NWHS, you will be an integral part of the Finance team performing day to day accounting duties related to the general ledger, month-end activities, grant accounting & reporting, and other finance and accounting duties as needed. You will provide support to program directors and managers with budget and financial information for grants and program management.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Perform and review general ledger activities such as account reconciliation, journal entries, and account adjustment.
- Perform collection, consolidation, preparation, and maintenance of financial data necessary to meet grant and contract reporting and evaluation requirements.
- Process grants and contracts drawdowns and invoices, using appropriate agency and grantor accounting systems.
- Develop and maintain accounting principles, procedures, and processes to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset accounting systems to record all equipment, real estate property and other assets.
- Assist in preparation and coordination of annual financial statement and 403 (b) audits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year accounting degree; or other four-year degree and 30 hours of accounting course work or at least 5 years of successful work experience in accounting in lieu of the 30 hours of accounting coursework. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles preferred.
- Experience in preparing journal entries.
- Experience in using computerized accounting and payroll system.
- Experience in using electronic spreadsheets.
- Experience in financial reporting.
