DIVISION: Applied Technology
SUPERVISOR: Dean of Applied Technology
BASIC FUNCTION: Full-time, nine month position with potential for supplemental summer term contract.
This position includes classroom and laboratory instruction as it relates to all courses/topics taught within the diesel equipment technology program as listed in the college catalog.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required – Two-year post-secondary diploma or AAS degree in diesel equipment technology or related field.
Three years of recent full-time experience as a diesel technician, or
diesel equipment technology instructor, or combination of both.
Computer skills.
Preferred – Additional work experience as diesel technician.
Previous teaching experience.
Supervisory experience.
Bilingual in the English and Spanish languages.
Copies of all academic transcripts are required. Unofficial copies are acceptable at the time of application. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment, a complete set of original transcripts will be required.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct effective instruction in all assigned areas, using approved course outlines.
2. Develop, revise, and maintain the current program curriculum for assigned courses.
3. Notify the Academic Dean, Executive Dean of Student & Academic Services, designee, or individual in
charge as early as possible of inability to meet a class.
4. Assess student progress and maintain accurate grade computations. Submit grade reports to Student
Services according to designated timelines.
5. Attend all faculty and division meetings and serve on college committees as appropriate.
6. Demonstrate, by example, professionalism and effectively manage student behavior in both the
classroom and the lab.
7. Serve as main instructor for the high school diesel program and applied technology lab assistant
as needed.
8. Schedule and meet with the program advisory committee a minimum of once per
year. 9. Recommend instructional materials.
10. Assist in the budgeting process by identifying instructional materials and
equipment.
11. Counsel, advise, and/or refer students as appropriate.
12. Maintain evidence of competency achievement (knowledge and application of knowledge) and
demonstrate continuous professional development as outlined in the Quality Faculty Plan. 11.
Assist in promotion and recruitment of the instructor’s respective program(s).
13. Submit requisitions for needed supplies to immediate supervisor.
14. Serve as a resource person for students and graduates regarding job opportunities.
15. Enforce all Northwest Iowa Community College student policies.
16. Participate in professional development activities.
17. Provide students written course expectations, including course objectives, attendance policy, methods
of evaluation, and grading practices.
18. Conduct business or industry training as needed.
19. Other duties as assigned.
WAGE/SALARY RANGE: Negotiable.
