CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

Preferred credential: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.

Required: At least 60 hours of college credit in an early learning (or related) field and have a demonstrated ability to work with young children and their families.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths.  Strong organizational  and  record keeping skills.

Ability to work independently and be self- motivated.

Technology skills; including e-mail, Internet, word-processing, and iPad usage.

Must complete the Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Training.

Director of Head Start or Designee

NKESC Executive Director

 

JOB GOAL:

The Parents as Teachers Coordinator will insure the proper implementation of the PAT model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being in their work with families.  Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways, the parent educator partners, facilitates and reflects with families.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS:
1. Engage in recruitment activities.
2. Complete an initial and annual family-centered assessment with each family.
3. Complete at least an initial and annual development screening and health review for each enrolled child.
4. Develop, monitor and review goals with each family.
5. Plan, provide and document personal visits focused on parent-child interaction, development­ centered parenting and family well-being.
6. Use the PAT Foundational curriculum to share research based information with families.
7. Provide group connections to give families an opportunity to build social connections with each other, engage in parent-child interaction activities, and increase their knowledge of ways to support children's development.
8. Connect families to resources that help them reach their goals and address their needs.
9. Help parents and children transition to other services as needed, such as preschool.
10. Maintain and submit in a timely way all required daily and program documentation using PAT data management system.
11. Participate in at least 1 to 2 hours of reflective supervision monthly and at least 2 hours of staff meetings monthly. (1 hour reflective supervision for less than .5 FTE; 2 hours for .5 or greater FTE).
12. Obtain competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually.
13. Participate in continuous quality improvement.
14. Coordinate and monitor service delivery in accordance with PAT Essential Requirement, PAT Quality Standards, and affiliate policies/procedures.
15. Report to EC3 Advisory Committee.
16. Monitor service documentation, data, collection and reporting (including parent satisfaction surveys, and annual submission of APR).
17. Lead reflective supervision meetings with Parent Educators.
18. Engage in quality assurance using PAT quality assurance tools.
19. Work with PAT Supervisor in development of grant for funding.
