Job Overview
Northwest Mediation Center is seeking a qualified Mediation Director to join our mission of fostering, providing, and teaching peaceful problem solving. The ideal candidate will be our primary mediator on staff, working with our Intake Specialist to assign, schedule, and facilitate or monitor mediations. In addition to conducting mediations, the Mediation Director will also supervise any other staff or volunteer mediators. They will take part in training new mediators and may be asked to speak at outreach or fundraising events.
The position of Mediation Director is part time. Qualified applicants may be considered for also filling the position of Mediation Director, combining the two part-time positions into a single Assistant Director full-time position. If this applies to you, indicate so in your cover letter.

Responsibilities
- Primary staff mediator (conduct mediations)
- Together with Intake Specialist, assign and monitor appropriate mediations and schedules
- Supervise staff and volunteer mediators
- Manage the mediation practicum program - train and supervise mediator interns, act as member of certification committee, design and maintain practicum materials
- Conduct mediation training and community education classes
Qualifications
- Must be a certified mediator through a Washington Dispute Resolution Center, Washington Mediation, mediate.com, or an equivalent approved program
- At least 3 years experience as a practicing mediator
- Experience as a teacher, coach, or trainer
- Passion for community service, nonviolent communication, and peaceful problem solving
- Strong verbal and writing skills; calm telephone/classroom voice and style
- Ability to work compassionately with individuals in conflict and affected by trauma
- Familiarity and ease with use of databases, Zoom, and Microsoft Office applications
- Comfort with a collaborative organizational structure
- Ability to work collaboratively with a small, partially-remote team
Ideal Qualifications
- Linguistic fluency (multi-lingual or bilingual)
- Experience in Restorative Practices and NVC (NonViolent Communication)
- Trauma-informed training
