Job Overview
Northwest Mediation Center is seeking a qualified Assistant Director to join our mission of fostering, providing, and teaching peaceful problem solving. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Director in administration and management of mediations, educational programs, outreach and development efforts. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with a small team of part-time and partially-remote staff to ensure smooth operations and funding for the organization.
The position of Assistant Director is part time. Qualified applicants may be considered for also filling the position of Mediation Director, combining the two part-time positions into a single Assistant Director full-time position. If this applies to you, indicate so in your cover letter.

Responsibilities
- Assist Executive Director (e.g. board relations, budgets, vendors, associations, HR, insurance, reporting, etc.
- Assist Executive Director in coordinating all Northwest Mediation Center programs
- Attend core staff meetings regularly and program-specific meetings as necessary
- Be familiar with all staff job duties, assist current staff and supervise training of new staff
- Be prepared to speak publicly about conflict resolution topics and Northwest Mediation Center programs
- Be prepared to attend meetings and events relevant to Northwest Mediation Center outreach
Qualifications
- Passion for community service, nonviolent communication, and peaceful problem solving
- 36- to 40-hour Basic Mediation Training completed (or complete asap upon hire) or comparable experience in conflict resolution study
- At least 3 years of non-profit administration or other managerial experience
- Strong verbal and writing skills; calm telephone and public speaking voice and style
- Ability to work compassionately with individuals in conflict and affected by trauma
- Familiarity and ease with use of databases, Zoom, and Microsoft Office applications
- Flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Comfort with a collaborative organizational structure
- Ability to work collaboratively with a small, partially-remote team
- Personal automobile, current driver's license, and comprehensive insurance
Ideal Qualifications
- Linguistic fluency (multi-lingual or bilingual)
- Experience in Restorative Practices and NVC (NonViolent Communication)
- Experience as a teacher, coach, or trainer
