What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business/Economics Instructor position at Northwest Mississippi Community College?
The Business Instructor is a full‐time, 9-month salaried position responsible for teaching a combination of Business and Economics courses. These responsibilities involve developing and implementing course syllabi, achieving student learning outcomes, evaluating student performance, record-keeping, and related activities. Related activities include, but are not limited to, advising, serving on various committees, participating in recruiting and retention efforts, and participating in professional activities and organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Business Administration with 18 graduate hours in Economics OR a Masters degree or higher in Economics
- Community College teaching experience in Business preferred
- Experience teaching online preferred
- Experience with classroom technology preferred
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills required
REPORTS TO: District Director of Business Instruction
CONTRACT TERM: Nine (9) months
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Business courses, primarily Economic and miscellaneous Business courses
- Prepare, administer, and grade essays, tests, other assignments, and/or program assessment data
- Maintain a record of student attendance as required by the Mississippi Community College Board
- Submit grades, attendance, and outcomes according to the academic calendar
- Manage timely engagement, grading, and communication
- Participate in departmental meetings and committee assignments
- Complete 15 hours of professional development each year
- Ability to travel between campus locations
- Establish effective relationships with college administration, faculty, staff, and students
- Adhere to school policy as set in the Policy and Procedures Manual
- Perform other duties as assigned by the District Director of Business
