What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Business Analyst position at Northwest Mississippi Community College?
The Business Analyst position provides guidance and support for the College ERP and Student Information System and any other software in use concerning the operation of the college. The individual provides a wide range of services for the college including but not limited to working on project implementations and with other departments supporting reporting, data requested and troubleshooting issues. The successful candidate must project a positive attitude and possess excellent communication skills concerning IT matters. The individual will work under the direction of the Director of Information Systems.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience in a relevant field
- Proven working experience in project management
- Experience with process improvement
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Critical Analytical/Problem solving ability
- Self-starter with team development and motivation abilities
- Experience in IT utilizing a SaaS system
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience supporting Higher Education ERP and Student Information Systems
- Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP Finance, HR/Payroll and/or Student Cloud or similar systems
- Experience with Internal Auditing and Business Analytics is a plus
- Experience with report writing in Higher Education environment.
- Experience working with vendors to implement new applications
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
This position provides guidance and support for the College ERP and Student Information System. The specific responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Works closely with each department as needed to ensure their data needs are met.
- Assists with projects and new software application configurations/implementations.
- Facilitates the creation of custom reports and data files as needed for all departments.
- Works closely with others to ensure data integrity.
- Provides guidance and support to all faculty and staff as needed in performing their daily tasks. Serves as a liaison to our Student Information System vendor for support and problem resolutions.
- Work with stakeholders to gather, document and manage the requirements for data migrations from the IBM iSeries server to a cloud environment.
- Work directly with the Director of Information Systems and IT Project Coordinator in conjunction with implementation and support partners for the College’s SaaS migration project and any other future projects.
- Work to coordinate and complete software projects within scope and budget in accordance with the established timeline.
- Work with the IT Project Coordinator and departmental users to setup workflows and define processes in the system.
- Assist in developing comprehensive project plans and training schedules for users.
- Work with the IT Project Coordinator to prepare reports for upper management regarding status of projects.
- Support the ERP and Student Management system after migration/implementation project completion, as well as support any other operational software systems.
- Assists in setting up new employees’ user profiles and access and security roles to software applications as needed.
- Facilitates configuration changes in the current SIS including but not limited to course curriculum additions and changes as approved and plan changes for pathways.
- Assist with other projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology (IT).
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Information Systems.
