Job Description
Harvest employees work in hot, humid environments humanely handling, harvesting and eviscerating live animals delivered to the facility. Employees work closely with USDA FSIS to ensure food safety and regulatory compliance of all products produced and strive to maintain the highest standards in safety and quality. Work may involve interactions with customers and working with a wide variety of livestock, including Bison, Yak, Beef, Lambs, Hogs and more. Employees should anticipate cross training, and working multiple positions to ensure the small team is as efficient as possible.
Responsibilities
- Receiving live animals, recording animal information including use of paper records and computer recording systems as needed
- Performing or assisting in the killing, gutting and skinning of animals delivered for harvest
- Performing trimming/inspection of animal carcasses
- Maintain strict lot traceability to ensure each animal is properly identified
- Utilize winches, hoists, and skid-steer in performance of duties as needed
- Washing carcasses and placing them into cold storage for further processing
- General area cleaning
- Harvest Floor Sanitation at end of shift
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to stand on feet for long hours
- Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Willingness to work in hot or humid environments
- Willingness to assist with the humane handling and butchering of animals
- Ability to identify team needs and adjust accordingly
- Ability to work independently with little direction or instructions
- Ability to communicate with customers, USDA personnel and others in a professional and courteous manner.
- At least 18 years of age or older
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
