Northwest RiverPartners Mission: Lead the charge for the Northwest to realize its clean energy potential using hydroelectricity as the cornerstone.
As the Outreach & Research Manager of Northwest RiverPartners, you will represent Northwest RiverPartners at various community events to share the foundational value of affordable, clean, and reliable hydropower across the Pacific Northwest. This staff member will also identify and execute multiple research projects as needed.
This position requires a dedicated, self-starting leader with strong interpersonal, communication, public speaking, research, and writing skills.
The successful candidate will be required to travel extensively across the Pacific Northwest and have a flexible work schedule. Responsibilities:
1. Create and Execute a Community Engagement Plan:
- Identify impactful community event engagement opportunities across the Pacific Northwest.
- Attend community events and bring appropriate educational and other materials to and from the event.
- Represent Northwest RiverPartners with a high degree of professionalism and provide community members with factual, relevant information about hydropower.
- Work with NW RiverPartners staff leadership and members to ensure relevant follow-up is tracked and completed.
- Assess the effectiveness of individual engagements and the overall program and make adjustments in coordination with NW RiverPartners staff leadership.
2. Research
- Work with Northwest RiverPartners staff leadership to complete various research assignments promptly.
- Provide materials and research products based on factual, scientific information when requested.
- When requested, present materials through various forms of public presentations.
Requirements/Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (Experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis)
- Transparent and high-integrity leadership
- Significant travel and flexible scheduling will be required
- Knowledge of utilities and hydropower is preferred
- Familiarity with NW regional issues and policies and laws pertaining to the Bonneville Power Administration, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and the Northwest hydropower system preferred
- Background in outreach and/or communications desired
- Three or more years of job experience in community outreach, communications, public affairs, or related areas
- Strong organizational abilities, including planning, program management, execution, and reporting
- Competency in capturing photos and videos to share on social media platforms–as well as the ability to create posts on social media platforms
- Ability to engage diverse groups in productive collaboration
- Creative and innovative
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: Commensurate with experience, starting at $80,000 annually
